Full-Stack Development for a Drag-and-Drop Website Builder Platform

The challenge

Cabanova was building one of the most ambitious website builder platforms of its era. The platform needed to empower non-technical users to create professional websites through a visual drag-and-drop interface, while supporting an expanding catalog of advanced modules — including a fully functional e-commerce system. Integrating a robust online shop capability into the visual editor presented unique engineering challenges: bridging ActionScript 3 on the frontend with a PHP backend, synchronizing product catalogs with the PrestaShop e-commerce engine, and maintaining a seamless user experience despite the inherent complexity of the underlying architecture.

Our solution

We worked as full-stack developers across the platform, building modules in ActionScript 3 for the visual editor and implementing server-side logic in PHP with the Zend Framework. The cornerstone achievement was engineering the e-commerce shop integration: we built the bridge between the CabanovaTX visual editor and PrestaShop, enabling users to design storefronts visually while the platform handled product management, inventory, and order processing behind the scenes. The data layer ran on MySQL with optimized queries to handle concurrent editing sessions, and the entire stack was deployed on Linux servers tuned for the demanding requirements of real-time visual editing at scale.
